Why does the Toad
?need its own day

For years, toads have been cast in the shadow of frogs. While World Frog Day is celebrated on March 20th, the "Israel’s Reptile Guardians" initiative has led the global call to establish International Toad Day on May 15th

Frogs and toads belong to the same biological order, but they do not represent the same way of life.

Toads evolved thicker, more water-resistant skin, powerful chemical defenses, and a greater ability to survive away from water.

In many ways, they represent a shift toward life on land — a tougher, more resilient path within amphibian evolution.

The toad is not "just another frog." It is a fascinating, resilient creature and a vital ecological partner to humans everywhere. As superior biological pest controllers, toads play a critical role in global biodiversity. Today, many toad species across the globe are facing increasing threats due to habitat destruction, climate
change, and pollution

Frog or Toad: What’s the difference and  why does it matter

3. Remarkable Resilience: Toads inhabit diverse environments, from lush forests to arid dunes. Their ability to adapt makes them essential indicators of environmental health across the planet
